Party of Five

The Deetz Family - now complete!

One of my favorite sayings from Carl's Grandma Deetz is "Three is what separates the boys from the men". I suppose Carl has now manned up! :)

Halloween Party

WUMCHA has its annual Halloween Party on Saturday which was really great, as always. This year Lily decided on an Alice in Wonderland theme for Halloween costumes. Emilia is the White Rabbit.

William is our Mad Hatter.

Lily, of course, is Alice. Everyone was in town this weekend for William's birthday party/the birth of Emilia, so Mary & Katie joined us for the Halloween Party. Here, Mary is dressed as the lovely Princess Belle.

William's birthday

After we got home from the hospital on Friday, Ingrid & Ryan stopped by and brought a birthday present for William.

William has been enjoying his remote-controlled train ever since. Thanks Ingrid & Ryan!

On Saturday, my mom hosted a small birthday party for William with our family. The theme of William's party was "Choo Choo - William's 2!" since his one and only love right now is trains. The buffet table contained all his favorite foods: pizza, popcorn, pretzels, apples (with a toffee dip) and white chocolate covered oreos which were a big hit with the kids.

I did not attempt to make a birthday cake like I normally do. Instead, mom made a cake, and I borrowed a Thomas the Train cake topper (that really goes around the track) from a friend. William was way into the moving train.

Of course, as most of our gatherings go, the night ended in a dance party. We also enjoyed watching the Cardinals in the World Series that night. We're looking to clench the victory tonight after the amazing Game 6 last night - GO CARDS!!!

Aunt Suzanne and family got William a riding Thomas the Train toy that has balls that pop out of it. William has enjoyed this very much, and the sparkly conductor hat just completes the look. :)
All that partying left one tuckered out boy. Here William is sleeping next to one of his other favorite presents - a soccer ball from my brother Jeff and family.

Emilia's sleeper reads, "I am so loved". Nothing could be more true.

Going Home

Visitors

Mom was with us through delivery, then watched William for us on Thursday, and then brought Lily & William to meet their new sister Thursday evening. Thanks mom for all your help!

Angela surprised us by coming in from Memphis on Thursday night. Angela and mom hung out with Emilia and me at the hospital on Thursday night while Carl stayed at the house with Lily and William. It was so nice to have company at the hospital - thanks Ang & mom!

Ingrid stayed with Lily and William through the night on Wednesday. When my mom came to relieve her on Thursday, Ingrid stopped by the hospital for some snuggles with Emilia.

My friends Sara and Kathryn stopped by for a visit on Friday. Kathryn was in town from Colorado to go to the World Series game - go Cards!!

The kiddos

Turns out that it's difficult to get a good picture of 3 kids 5 and under. This is the best we have of the kiddos so far.
