Fall fun

Last Saturday (the 25th), we had a "Kathleen" itinerary for the day. What is a "Kathleen" itinerary, you ask? Well, you just schedule back-to-back activities without any breaks, and that's a Kathleen kind of day.

Saturday was the Smithsonian's Free Museum Day, so Lily and I took advantage of this opportunity to go to the Transportation Museum (while Carl stayed at home with a napping William). At the Transportation Museum, we got to check out some fun, classic cars and ride their miniature train. It was nice to spend some time with just Lily; it was so easy without a little wiggly munchkin to carry around. We even unexpectedly got a picture for Lily's birthday invitations which I was excited about!

After the Transportation Museum outing (which is less than 5 minutes from our house), we went back home to pick up the boys. We then headed out to Eckert's Farm for their annual Fall festival and some apple picking. We were lucky enough to have Ingrid and Ryan join us for afternoon which Lily was really happy about.

After apple picking, we headed out to New Town to join my mom and cousin Abby for their community Fall Festival. This was a really nice event which we always enjoy. Lily then got to have a sleep-over at Grandma's house with Abby. I'd say all-in-all, Lily had about as much fun as a little girl can have that day. To top it all off, we met my mom, Abby, and Lily at Chuck E Cheese's the next day for lunch. Can it get any better, really?

Below are some pictures from our apple picking excursion (some of which I had to steal from Ingrid since my camera ran out of juice half-way into our trip).

Look at that adorable baby goat

Awesome!

Lily enjoying the rides

Lily really liked the miniature golf. She got a hole-in-one four different times!!

William playing the spectator role -- next year will be so much more fun for him. I can't wait!!

William with Aunt Ingrid

We had some fun with picture props. Here, Ingrid demonstrates who wears the pants in their relationship! ;)

Little farmers Lily and William

Lily had to get a little boost from Aunt Ingrid behind the scenes on this one!

On our way to pick some apples

Picking the perfect apple

The Golden Delicious apples were very popular so we had to use some teamwork to reach the few remaining good ones.

William enjoys the fruits of Lily's labor!

Hmmm, it may not surprise you to know that we have those sort of days around here too! Great minds think (and plan) alike!
