American Girl Store Grand Opening

We happened to time our visit to KC just right to be there on the Grand Opening Day of a new American Girl Store. Lily was truly beside herself. We must have circled the store at least 5 times, and she could hardly catch her breath, pointing out all the things that she wanted. I will admit that the dolls and accessories are pretty neat, but it is hard to justify paying more for a doll's double stroller than I paid for Lily and William's sit and stand stroller. We made it out of there without any packages, but only on the promises of upcoming birthday and Christmas presents. I fear the days of $7 toys topping her wish list are over.

Oh, the anticipation!

Oh, the joy!

Sophia and Lily pose with the girl for 2010, Lanie.

Showing some American girl sass.

The beloved doll, Rebecca (whom she has decided will be called Julie instead).

Lily loved all the accessories but definitely had her eye on a few favorites. At the top of the list was this baking set. Any guesses on the cost of the table with baking accessories?

I don't even want to guess. I am sure it is outrageous. But totally worth it. :)

American Girl is pricey, to say the least. I've been thinking about making a baking/treat set out of felt for my girls to use with their dolls. I aspire to make things even half as cute as the items I saw in this etsy store:
