Great Wolf Lodge

The hotel keeps a small herd of buffalo right next to the hotel

Lily had to test out the room by jumping from bed to bed

The main feature of the Great Wolf Lodge is their indoor waterpark. It was awesome! I really can't say enough about this place! I would highly recommend it to anyone wanting a great family vacation. We really didn't get many pictures of the waterpark. 1. Because we were just having too much fun to bother with pictures 2. Because Carl was in charge of picture-taking in the waterpark, and we have different ideas about what having "plenty of pictures" means :)

Lily loved every area of the waterpark: the enormous play structure with two huge slides, the swimming pool area, the water basketball area, the lazy river and the kiddie pool area.

Lily's favorite part of the waterpark was technically one that she was not allowed to go on (due to height requirements - luckily they were not very strict). They had three ENORMOUS slides (that required lots of stair-climbing) that Lily LOVED. I can't believe that not only was she not scared, she was totally relaxed and when I would say "Woo-hoo" on the ride, she would do the same. These slides were fast, with lots of twists and turns and even had tunnels that were completely dark. When we would come to the end, she would ask to go on it again immediately. Carl and I had to switch on and off with her because the stair-climb alone was exhausting! In the picture above, we are coming out of the tunnel on the right on a white raft.

After hours of swimming, what could be better than a sweet treat? They had the cutest little sweets shop called Bear Paws Cafe. Lily was quite excited about her butterfly lollipop.

The lodge also has a kids playroom called the Cub Room. The room had tons to do from blocks to puzzles to books to crafts... We played in here while Carl put in our order for dinner and then picked it up so that we could eat dinner in our room (so much easier than eating in a restaurant with our active Lily).

At 8 o'clock, they had a little song and story time for the kids. The kids were invited to come in their pjs to enjoy the show. All the animals in this display moved and sang songs for the kids.

After the show, the kids got to give Wiley the Wolf a hug good night. Too cute!

Oh my goodness..is that treacherous slide safe for pregnant ladies?! Oh and by the way...we have a Great Wolf Lodge in KC too! ;)

So, truth be told, none of us were supposed to go on it. Besides the stated height requirements, there were also signs for no preggers and no one with back problems which rules me & Carl out. We took my father's lead on this one, where "rules" were really just "suggestions".
We actually considered going to the GWL in KC, but we were going in a different direction for this trip. But, I can say almost certainly that we will have gone to the one in KC by this time next year - we loved it!
